The dances preceded and open the way for trade talks

The dances preceded and open the way for trade talks. That’s what got JJ’s goat.It proved very popular and JJ’s great-grandfather became rich overnight.By the time JJ and his two boys Pinky and Slinky took over the firm, the Jhadoowalla empire had moved into a hundred varieties of brushes for all surfaces — hard ones, soft ones, big ones for factory floors, small ones for shaving gentlemen’s faces, severe ones for carpets, spiky ones to brush pet dogs and cats, tiny, fine ones for painting with water colours or on canvas and any other brush-related activity.

Again, like Jehangir’s jhadoos, Dyson and his engineers made his vacuum cleaners in all sizes and shapes — one that could clean carpets and others that could conveniently vacuum your car.The only drawback is that England doesn’t have much sunshine, so maybe Panasonic should target the curry-loving market of Britain! A man is treated by emergency services, as knives lie on the floor, with police looking on at the scene outside the Houses of Parliament London.Sir James was knighted for his ingenuity and, one has to say, for his philanthropy as he donated money to good and charitable works such as buildings for art and design colleges. Simple and ecologically sound, it has saved several of my designer outfits. The moot question his visit poses is the replacement of human labour with the machine. And as a leading figure in British business he joined Ms May in India, no doubt to be photographed at the Taj and of course to sell vacuum cleaners. The first slogan that the company adopted was "The Jadoo of Jhadoo — We’ll Clean You Out”.Her delegation included Sir James Dyson and that simple but significant inclusion is what set our Jehangir Jhadoowalla off on, at first, a protest mission. Despite persistent emails to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he received no answer — or as we used to say "apply, apply, and no reply!”

Now cultural exchanges are the "circuses” that go before or hand-in-hand with the real motivation of promoting the "bread” angle.JJ’s plea was prompted by the passage to India earlier this year of UK Prime Minister Theresa May, a consequence of the Brexit vote, which causes her to seek trading deals with countries outside Europe. You see, JJ and his ancestors built their business empire on sweeping instruments.JJ’s great-grandfather, a tireless inventor, on a trip to the Bombay of the time, noted that the mosaic floors of rich Parsi houses required a softer instrument than the stiff-stick jhadoo. The only drawback is that England doesn’t have much sunshine, so maybe Panasonic should target the curry-loving market of Britain!. He had the journalists whom he regularly pays write articles in the international press saying Sir James’ visit raised questions. Is the country ready to evolve or transform these castes to Dysonians?Or is there going to be mass unemployment when Sir James and Ms May have their way and flood the market with cheap vacuum cleaners made in conveyor belt factories in Oldham? And what about the question of the diversion of electricity into these machines? Will it, as JJ pointed out in his emails, not contribute to global warming? To tell the truth, I am in two minds about JJ’s case and protests. (Photo: AP) "The devil is but truth’s disguiseThe word’s perverted veilWhich promises you paradiseIf you kill to no avail…”

From The Martyrs’ Hymn Book by BachchooJehangir Jhadoowalla, my second cousin thrice removed (twice by the police and once by bailiffs) has ended his unsuccessful attempt to join Arun Jaitley when he toured Britain to inaugurate the India-UK year of culture. He invented the bag-less vacuum cleaner and set up a factory to make and sell them. He claims in his diaries, perhaps boastfully and wrongly, that he then proceeded to invent the soft-feather jhadoo and its jute-string-bundled handle, which would be the ideal instrument to sweep up dust from interior tiled floors. Here’s an extract from one of the more discerning:"Sir James Dyson’s sojourn on a trade delegation to India from the UK is the harbinger of the entry of the country into the robotic future of the globalised world. Wonder no more. My mother taught me that when I get turmeric or curry stains — which are super-resistant to soap and bleach — on any clothing, the way to make them disappear is to soak the stained area in acid and then expose it to strong sunlight — and hey presto! The acid can be white vinegar, citric acid from limes or lemons or even lactic acid from milk. It works. India over thousands of years has evolved castes of people known as "sweepers”. Sir James is one of Britain’s leading modern inventors.

One can’t stand, Luddite-like, in the path of progress, and there is a case for relieving the tedium of sweeping. Now in any store that sells electrically-operated machines one may find 20 or more models of Dyson vacuum cleaners, some without cords to electrical sockets, operated wirelessly — and other wonders of the modern world. Maybe Sir James will make his machines in Gujarat!Take the case of Panasonic who, I believe have invented a washing machine aimed specifically at the subcontinental market that removes curry stains from clothes.

At first, in the 19th century, their business consisted of tying stiff sticks into bunches and sending them from their farm in Gujarat to Bombay and other cities where these stiff brooms would be used to sweep wet and dry outdoor floors. Now gentle reader, you might ask what this illustrious history has to do with Sir James accompanying Ms May on her diplomatic mission to India. Edgar Hoover, is still in use in many households and Edgar’s surname has indeed replaced ‘vacuum cleaner’ as the common noun for the machine…”

The quote above poses the central question. The model invented by the late head of the US’ FBI, J. Again I don’t know how popular this will be. How will the millions of sweepers in India who have wielded the brushy broom react to unemployment when the Dyson replaces the sweeping instruments traditionally used in our villages and cities? Not that the vacuum cleaner is an unknown machine in India

This memory is paired with 32GB of storage and does well to pull up apps effortlessly

This memory is paired with 32GB of storage and does well to pull up apps effortlessly. With this handset, this just isn’t the case. The S4 comes with a 13MP primary sensor with an aperture value of F1.VerdictThe Infinix S4 is priced at Rs 8,999 in India and it comes with features such as a triple-rear camera set-up and a 32MP front-facing camera that’s not commonly found on smartphones in this price range. There are the micro USB charging port and a 3. Whatever way you look at it, the Infinix S4 just doesn’t look like a sub Rs 10K handset. The Infinix branding that’s finished in silver adds to the classy appearance of the smartphone. The Infinix S4 comes with a triple camera set-up and a 32MP selfie snapper that’s one of the first for a smartphone in this price range.0GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM.Viewing content here is a pleasure and we see it used largely as a media consumption device because of the vibrant colours that are rendered. The addition of a 3.Overall, the performance of the handset is pretty decent and will serve most users well.Overall, the handset is lightweight and comfortable to handle. It has an 81. While colours were vivid, text over here is crisp making the overall experience more than satisfactory.0 which is based on Android 9 Pie and navigating around it is pretty intuitive. This actually does show Infinix’s commitment to the discerning consumer. There are other features here as well such as AR, Video, Bokeh (Portrait when using the front camera) and Beauty. When it comes to gaming, we tried PUBG Mobile and it fared decently well on the lowest settings. The build quality is great as well and we think that it can survive a few accidental knocks without being worse for wear. It manages to capture a fair amount of detail in outdoor photography. The aspect ratio here is 19:5:9 due to the drop notch display and the brightness is rated at 500 nits. On the other side, the brand has opted for a triple card layout on the SIM tray. The brand has thrown in a feature called Eye Care which turns the screen amber to help reduce straining your eyes at night and help you China packing machines Manufacturers fall asleep more easily. While these features are great, we would have liked it if Infinix added an option to fine tune the overall colour temperature of the screen. BatteryThe battery is one of the S4’s strong suits. We advise you to use the transparent TPU case that comes bundled in the case as it can keep your purchase looking new long past its purchase date. We found it easier to use the fingerprint sensor over here and this worked like a charm.

The multitasking capabilities are great here as the 3GB RAM management works in its favour.DisplayThe Infinix S4 comes with a 6. Also, unlike other handsets from competitive brands, the S4 managed to focus on subjects instantly making for quick shots and never losing a moment. While using the handset as our daily driver for the span of our review period and accessing WhatsApp on a frequent basis, sending and receiving emails, playing games and streaming some videos on YouTube; the handset still managed to last till the end of a workday. Low-light photography is decent here and we observed that though the images are usable for social media; they did feature some amount of grain. Besides it, we find the customary square-ish fingerprint sensor. It’s so fast that we missed notifications that popped up onscreen. There was no lag or stutter noticed while scrolling through the various menus; however, pulling up large apps did take a slight amount of time. The rear sports a vertically aligned triple camera setup and sitting below it is a large quad-LED flash. However, if you plan on playing high-end games then the battery will take a sizable hit. There are options to turn on HDR or wide-angle located at the top and the latter comes in handy while shooting group photos. The Infinix S4 is perfectly poised as the handset to own if you want a great media consumption experience and capable cameras without breaking the bank.5mm audio jack at the bottom. The handset is priced at a mere Rs 8,999; effectively beating all other competitors out there in terms of the specs to price ratio. However, for casual games, the handset performs as promised to make it quite an enjoyable experience.SoftwareThe Infinix S4 comes with XOS Cheetah v5. There is a bit of bloatware here. The handset features a 32MP front-facing camera with an F/2.This year, however, is a whole another story. Being the flagship brand of Transsion Holdings, Infinix boasts products that are placed below Rs 20,000 price and have fared quite well in a space that’s quite over-crowded. While the marketing material certainly suggests the front-facing camera as its main USP; the handset also boasts other mouth-watering specifications such as a triple rear camera setup, a gorgeous display and a massive 4000mAh battery. If the technology is available and it can be available to a wide consumer base, Infinix is showing that they are the brand that can provide it. However, Infinix has also thrown in some useful apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook and others which are great because as soon as you start up the handset, they are there; thus negating the need to manually install them from the Play Store. It comes with a design that looks in the Rs 20K bracket and the brand has done well to make it as classy as they could.0. Available in three colour options — Nebula Blue, Twilight Purple and Space Gray; you can’t go wrong with any one of them. This allows you to add two Nano SIM cards and a microSD card expanding the storage up to a respectable 256 gigs extra.21-inch HD+ IPS LCD display that sports a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. However, battery life takes a hit. To the side, we find the volume rockers and power button.

The Face Unlock feature here works too well for our liking. If you think that’s it; then there’s another surprise for you. Packing a 4000mAh battery is pretty rare for a handset priced under Rs 9,000. The Infinix S4 comes with a 6.CameraThe Infinix S4 comes packing a triple rear camera setup and this is one of the highlighted features of the handset. The camera app is pretty easy to navigate through with all the main modes located at the bottom. After successfully launching the Smart S3 Plus, Infinix is back in the picture with the S4. If not, then you’re good. By default, there are some apps already loaded in this tray while others need to be added as per your convenience. Some of which can be deleted but others you’re stuck with. Accessing information outdoors is doable as well and this is because of the bright display.PerformanceThe Infinix S4 comes with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor clocked at 2. Even while using it single-handedly we faced no issues. There are AI capabilities here which are enabled by default which is a hit and miss when it comes to detecting scenes. There are no real complaints from us regarding this as it performs on par with handsets in and around this price range. Getting used to this operating system should take you a day’s worth of time. The speaker grille and microphone are also located at the bottom while the tiny earpiece is fitted between the screen and the frame on the top.0 aperture and it does well to capture selfies with colours appearing natural with an overall balance observed.
This year, the mantra of the brand is to fit high-end specifications in smartphones that come with pocket-friendly prices. For the past few years, Infinix has gradually built up its name from obscurity by launching handsets with features that rivalled competitors.86 per cent screen-to-body ratio that’s quite impressive for a handset in this price range and boasts a pixel density of 271 PPI.Shooting images with this handset is a pleasure especially in well-lit environments.Infinix has added a search bar on top which allows you to access trending topics. There is also a Read Mode which can be useful if you plan on staring at the phone for long periods of time.It appears that Infinix is sticking with its quick access tray on the S4 and we are thankful for it as it gives you access to your most frequent apps from virtually everywhere. The location of these buttons is great and reaching them posed no hassle. However, the camera does do well to capture images in most lighting condition and this is something that cannot be said for most handsets in this price range.

With the S4, Infinix has shown that consumer comes first and the best features don’t need to cost a bomb.Design, BuildPreviously, Infinix smartphones had decent looking smartphones but nothing that can wow you. This smartphone boasts a fantastic design and its main characteristic is the massive 32MP camera up-front. These features are not found on many smartphones in this price range; and for the brand to add it shows exactly where its focus lies — the consumer. Images captured here are sharp with a lot of detail visible. Indoor selfies had a fair share of grain but they are definitely usable.21-inch HD+ IPS LCD display that sports a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels.

While there was some lag observed, the overall gameplay was manageable.. Another useful addition is Battery Lab whereby the system will operate the manual power saving to clean unnecessary power –consuming apps for you.Like most of the handsets launched this year, the S4 comes with a glossy back that has a gradient finish. In Asphalt 9 the handset did not fare as well with a lot of lag and stutter noticed. In for review, we received the Nebula Blue variant that has a finish which shifts from Blue to Black. We would have liked it if there was a USB Type-C port instead of a micro USB as smartphones in the sub Rs 10K price range are starting to have this feature.

This shows that Infinix has used premium materials to build this handset yet keep the price down to a minimum. Infinix has taken off its gloves and shows that they don’t want to be known as an also-ran but a brand that’s innovative, competitive and all-capturing.5mm audio jack is highly appreciated at a time where every brand is rushing to get rid of it.

The plastic, glossy back certainly does look like glass and telling it apart can be a task for the untrained eye. Apart from this, there are modes such as Game Boost, Battery Saver, Bike Mode, WhatsApp Mode and Multi Window which all have their own unique uses and can be greatly beneficial to you.8, a 2MP depth sensor and an 8MP wide-angle sensor that boasts a massive 120-degree field of view. Like all smartphones with glossy rear panels, this handset is a fingerprint magnet

Even some of those which had recorded big profit margins until recently

Though Mr Sharma has vehemently denied the charge asserting that he himself is victim of a particular lobby after he tried to address the issue of corruption within the JKCL, Husan Ara Watali, the finance adviser, has in a letter written to the commissioner/secretary (industries and commerce department) to the J&K government corroborated Ms Gul’s complaint.

The suffering employees and other stakeholders have now decided to approach chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to seek her intervention towards salvaging JKCL. After facing harassment and even being allegedly abused by in-charge managing director Atul Sharma, she has sought voluntary retirement citing health issues. It has also been a sad story of misuse of authority, corruption, political favouritism and nepotism.

She said that she was present in an official meeting when Mr Sharma used "unparliamentarily and abusive language” against Ms Gul.One of the enterprises which was earning profits for its owners but has starved for good people resulting into its imminent collapse is Jammu and Kashmir Cements Limited (JKCL).But their real or purported "sickness” is an outcome more of mismanagement, corruption, nepotism and political interference than a repercussion of the turbulence or any market woes.

We also trust and hope she will ensure those who are responsible for the present predicament are severely dealt under the law as she has publicly committed herself to getting the state rid of corruption after taking over as the chief minister recently,” said an official. They virtually filled their own coffers after stealing from that of the government. The Kashmir Inc.He pointed out that a probe conducted by a 4-member team constituted by industries and commerce department last year had held former MD, R. Also, China large capacity automatic filling machine detailss Manufacturers 16 crore worth shortfall was detected in raw material and cement some time back.”

Insiders also said that irregularities have been detected in purchase of machinery, upgradation of old plant, procurement of raw material and maintenance of the equipment from time to time.Meanwhile, the officials who resented shady moves within the JKCL in particular purchase of inferior quality imported coal from local dealers in violation of laid down procedure, a case which is already being investigated by the State Vigilance Organisation, are being harassed by the "blue-eyed” executives. Ms Watali said that she has worked in the JKCL for over 30 years and besides being a senior female officer herself can only say Mr Sharma’s behaviour is "unacceptable and intolerable”. Some of these executives are not even qualified to hold the positions they are in but it is their clout in the corridors of power which keeps them going.

Even some of those which had recorded big profit margins until recently are now in shambles.JKCL began as a 600 TPD cement plant in the village of Khrew in the state’s southern Pulwama district in 1971. It was also authorised to set up a 300 tonnes per day clinker grinding-cum-packing unit at the Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) at Samba near Jammu. The company posted a profit of about Rs 2. The latest victim of this bigotry and retribution is Iffat Gul, deputy manager (finance). The private player taking the advantage of the situation moved the PPP proposal before the state government and has even offered to settle the issue of payments with the employees if the same is through.K.. In fact, some unscrupulous elements within these organisations and outside forces and other vested interest have only seized the Kashmir situation to further their own interests. Insiders say that there have been deliberate efforts on part of vested interests to turn the public sector undertaking a "sick unit” to pave the way for its being leased out to a prominent business house of the Valley. "This with backdoor appointments has ruined the once profit-earning JKCL,” said an employee. But no action has been taken against him either so far and the case is gathering dust in the vigilance organisation. The two-and-a-half-decade-old turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir has seen many of its public sector undertakings and other government-run businesses falling under red. She also sees it as wanton disrespect towards the dignity of women "besides disturbs the smooth functioning of office. Paradoxically, the proposal is being promoted even by some key players in the government and that too at a time when requisite measures for revising the JKCL to make it a profit-making unit again had been recommended by some sincere engineers, technocrats and concerned government officials as well. In 2006-2007, the authorities installed another 600 TPD plant in an effort to bridge the huge gap between demand and supply of cement. It soon turned out to be one of the profitable public sector undertakings in Jammu and Kashmir and even flourished during the heyday of insurgency in 1990s. He was also accused of "misleading” the government on clinker grinding-cum-packing unit at Samba. Razdan, responsible for illegal appointments, purchasing of sub-standard items and other irregularities causing over Rs 100 crore loss to the JKCL. has urged the government to initiate immediate measures to take the JKCL out of distress.28 crore in 2009-2010 fiscal and continued to show a good profit performance till 2012-2013 but then suddenly reduced its earnings expectations.

The two-and-a-half-decade-old turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir has seen many of its public sector undertakings and other government-run businesses falling under red.He added that the JKCL has a potential of earning huge profits even after providing employment to over 1,000 semi-skilled, skilled, specialised and super-specialised workers besides more than 200 distributors and sub-dealers who are engaged in its cement sales promotion. But "political interventions” have always come to the rescue of those involved in the scams. It seems the failure is manipulated than real. The site for the ambitious plant was chosen for being surrounded by hills full of high quality limestone deposits

TAA is the result of an internal joint effort between Symantec

TAA is the result of an internal joint effort between Symantec’s Attack Investigation Team, responsible for uncovering Stuxnet, Regin, Lazarus as well as links to SWIFT and WannaCry attacks among others, and a team of Symantec’s top security data scientists on the leading edge of machine learning research. "Targeted Attack Analytics uses advanced analytics and machine learning to help shorten the time to discovery on the most targeted and dangerous attacks and to help keep customers and their data safe. Symantec’s cloud-based approach to this technology also enables the frequent re-training and updating of analytics to adapt to new attack methods without the need for product updates. Yet they are often hidden from view under a mountain of alerts generated by security systems, giving attackers time to gain access to systems and seize valuable data.

Targeted attacks represent one of the most dangerous threats to enterprise security today. "With TAA, we’re taking the intelligence generated from our leading research teams and uniting it with the power of advanced machine learning to help customers automatically identify these dangerous threats and take action. Unlike traditional solutions, TAA takes the process, knowledge and capabilities of the world’s leading security experts and turns it into artificial intelligence, providing companies with elite "virtual analysts,” to allow security experts to devote their limited time and resources to the most critical attacks, instead of spending time sifting through false positives."Up until now, we’ve had the telemetry and data necessary to uncover the warning signs of dangerous targeted attacks but the industry has lacked the technology to analyze and code the data quickly,” said Eric Chien, Technical Director of Symantec Security and Response and Symantec Fellow. This new approach provides ATP customers with automated targeted threat detection, identifying sophisticated attacks where other solutions may fail. (Representative Image: Pixabay) Symantec has announced that the powerful threat detection technology used by its own research teams to uncover some of the most notable cyber attacks in history are now available to its Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) customers. The Symantec Targeted Attack Analytics (TAA) technology enables ATP customers to leverage advanced machine learning to automate the discovery of targeted attacks – the most dangerous intrusions in corporate networks. As reported in Symantec&China composite film liquid flexible packaging machines Suppliers039;s Internet Security Threat Report (ISTR), Volume 23, the number of targeted attack groups is on the rise with Symantec now tracking 140 organised groups.

As reported in Symantec's Internet Security Threat Report (ISTR), Volume 23, the number of targeted attack groups is on the rise with Symantec now tracking 140 organised groups.”The TAA technology implements machine learning to analyse a broad range of data, including system and network telemetry from Symantec’s global customer base which forms one of the largest threat data lakes in the world. TAA removes this distraction by identifying truly targeted activity and prioritising it in the form of a highly reliable incident report for the security team. Since its internal inception, Symantec TAA has detected security incidents at more than 1,400 organisations.”

TAA is now available as part of Symantec’s Integrated Cyber Defense Platform for Symantec Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) customers.0, a major attack that targeted dozens of energy companies in an effort to gain access to operational networks.AI and machine learning innovations automate capabilities of Symantec’s investigations team to zero in on the most pressing threats."Symantec’s team of cyber analysts has a long history of uncovering the world’s most high-profile cyber-attacks and now their deep understanding of how these attacks unfold can be put to use # by our customers without the need to employ a team of researchers,” said Greg Clark, Symantec CEO.The technology underlying Symantec TAA is the same toolset the company used to uncover Dragonfly 2.(source)

The Election Commission has not made public any independent security evaluations

3 billion people registered to vote, the Indian national election is the world&cup and box canned sealing machines Manufacturers39;s largest democratic exercise. It is intended for the single purpose of voting and specially designed for that, rather than relying on a standard operating system like Windows, which needs to be regularly updated to patch detected security vulnerabilities., which are software-intensive. In earlier versions of the machine, the chip manufacturer also wrote the machine code into the chip; today the electronics companies do it themselves. There are roughly 900 million eligible voters, and the country has typically seen about two-thirds of them turn out to polling places. Testing can reveal only some problems, and the absence of problems during testing does not mean that problems do not exist. (Photo:AP)How does it work? When a voter arrives at the polling place, she presents a photo ID and the poll officer checks that she is on the electoral roll.S. (This means about 1 per cent or 2 per cent of each constituency’s machines will be tested. However, a scholarly study has demonstrated there are ways to rig the machines.) Opposition parties have asked the Supreme Court to order audits of half of all electronic voting machines, but that may not happen with this year’s election. After polling concludes, India’s electronic voting machines are sealed with a very old-fashioned technology. With 900 million of India&China composite film liquid flexible packaging machines Manufacturers39;s 1.

Auditing the machines’ resultsThere is, however, a mechanism for detecting attacks – that printed-out paper bearing the vote and stored securely with the electronic equipment. (Photo:AP)Security protections – and concernsThe Indian electronic voting machine primarily runs on specialized hardware and firmware, unlike the voting machines used in the U.After each button press, a printer prints out the voter’s choice on paper and displays it to the voter for a few seconds, so the person may verify that the vote was recorded correctly. When it’s her turn to vote, a polling official uses an electronic voting machine’s control unit to unlock its balloting unit, ready to accept her vote.

In each constituency, five electronic voting machines will have their results audited by comparing a manual count of the printouts with the electronic tallies. Then the paper is dropped into a locked storage box.The Election Commission of India argues that any manipulation or error would be detected because the electronic voting machine is tested frequently and candidate representatives # have opportunities to participate in mock elections immediately before a machine is used in a real election.

A woman tests an electronic voting machine in India in advance of that country’s national elections. India uses a domestically designed and manufactured electronic voting machine – as many as 4 million of them at 1 million polling places. The whole system runs on a battery, so it does not need to be plugged in. Parties that lose elections often suspect malfeasance and question the equipment. The voting over seven phases ends May 19, with counting scheduled for May 23.

The machines’ software is designed, written and tested at two electronics companies owned by the government of India: Bharat Electronics Limited and Electronics Corporation of India Limited. At any time during manufacture, testing and maintenance, it may be possible to introduce counterfeit chips or swap out other components that could let hackers alter the results. However, it is possible to make changes that will not be detected. (Photo:AP)

New Delhi: About 600 million Indian citizens are expected to cast their votes over a period of 39 days ending May 19, in the ongoing election for their country’s parliament. The chips for the machines are manufactured outside India. While the electronic voting machine system is useful and functional, officials and observers shouldn’t assume there’s no way to tamper with the results.Different areas of India vote on seven different days, over the course of a 39-day election period. (This article featured in 'Global Perspective- The Conversation').

To vote, the voter simply presses the button next to the candidate of her choice. Each machine requires only a connection between a balloting unit and a control unit; there are no provisions to connect an electronic voting machine to a computer network, much less the internet – including wirelessly. The Election Commission of India has repeatedly claimed that the electronic voting machines are tamper-proof.The first version of the Indian electronic voting machine debuted in the state election in Kerala in 1982.About 600 million Indian citizens are expected to cast their votes over a period of 39 days ending May 19, in the ongoing election. An elderly Indian citizen is assisted by a polling staff as she prepares to leave after voting at a polling center during the fourth phase of general elections in Mumbai, India, Monday, April 29, 2019.

Indians were voting Monday in the fourth phase of a staggered national election. Election workers hand-tally these individual machine totals to obtain the election results for each constituency.bhlfoodmachine.An Indian election official displays a sample paper record of an electronic ballot during a demonstration of how the equipment works. However, because no technology can be tamper-proof, each election outcome should be verified by a manual audit, to ensure that the results are correct, whatever they may be. (Photo:AP)As I and others have observed, when the machines are being made, there are a number of opportunities for someone to physically tamper with an electronic voting machine in ways that preelection device testing might not detect. Now they’re used in elections throughout the country, which happen on different days in different areas. A 2013 Supreme Court directive asked the Election Commission to create that process to protect the integrity of the balloting process. When it’s time for the polling place to close at the end of the voting day, each electronic voting machine device and paper-record storage box is sealed with wax and tape bearing the signatures of representatives of the various candidates in that election, and stored under armed guard.

The Election Commission has not made public any independent security evaluations, so it’s unclear exactly # what is – or isn’t – possible.Indian men stand in queue to cast their votes at a polling booth in Bardhaman east constituency, West Bengal state, India, Monday, April 29, 2019. The Election Commission should certainly continue to improve testing and provide public reports of independent testing. The balloting unit has a very simple user interface: a series of buttons with candidate names and symbols. This design does offer some protections against possible tampering with how votes are recorded and tallied. In particular, the simplicity of the design allows for simple attacks, such as intercepting and modifying the signal carried over the machine’s cable.I have been working on the security of electronic voting systems for more than 15 years, and, along with other colleagues, have been interested in understanding how a nation can tally that many votes cast over such a long period.Indian voters line up outside a polling booth in Mumbai, India, Monday, April 29, 2019.After the election period is over and it’s time to tally the votes, the electronic voting machines are brought out, the seals opened and the vote counts for each control unit are read out from its display board. India uses a domestically designed and manufactured electronic voting machine – as many as 4 million of them at 1 million polling places, at least some in extremely remote locations

Volunteers were randomly assigned to receive either

The relevance of vaccine protection in rhesus monkeys to clinical efficacy in humans remains unclear. China compound film filling machines Manufacturers There is no definitive immunological measurement that is known to predict protection against HIV-1 in humans. (Photo: Pixabay) Scientists have developed a new vaccine that can safely and effectively elicit immune response against a wide variety of HIV strains, an advance which may help prevent the deadly infection in the future.

Researchers, including those from Harvard Medical School in the US, found that the 'mosaic' vaccine, created by combining pieces of different HIV viruses, is well-tolerated and generated comparable and robust immune responses against HIV in healthy adults and rhesus monkeys."

These results represent an important milestone," said Dan Barouch, the lead author of the study published in The Lancet journal."This study demonstrates that the mosaic Ad26 prime, Ad26 plus gp140 boost HIV vaccine candidate induced robust immune responses in humans and monkeys with comparable magnitude, kinetics, phenotype, and durability and also provided 67 per cent protection against viral challenge in monkeys," said Barouch.Nearly 37 million people worldwide are living with HIV/AIDS, with an estimated 1.8 million new cases every year. A safe and effective preventative vaccine is urgently needed to curb the HIV pandemic, the researchers said.A key hurdle to HIV vaccine development has been the lack of direct comparability between clinical trials and preclinical studies, the they said.To address these methodological issues, the scientists evaluated the leading mosaic adenovirus serotype 26 (Ad26)-based HIV-1 vaccine candidates in parallel clinical and pre-clinical studies to identify the optimal HIV vaccine regimen to advance into clinical efficacy trials. The trial recruited 393 healthy, HIV-uninfected adults (aged 18-50 years) from 12 clinics in east Africa, South Africa, Thailand, and the US.

Volunteers were randomly assigned to receive either one of seven vaccine combinations or a placebo, and were given four vaccinations over the course of 48 weeks. To stimulate, or 'prime', an initial immune response, each volunteer received an intramuscular injection of Ad26.Mos.HIV at the start of the study and again 12 weeks later.

The vaccine containing 'mosaic' HIV Env/Gag/Pol antigens was created from many HIV strains, delivered using a non-replicating common-cold virus (Ad26).Results showed that all vaccine regimens tested were capable of generating anti-HIV immune responses in healthy individuals and were well tolerated, with similar numbers of local and systemic reactions reported in all groups, most of which were mild-to-moderate in severity. The researchers also noted several limitations, including the fact that that the relevance of vaccine protection in rhesus monkeys to clinical efficacy in humans remains unclear.

There is no definitive immunological measurement that is known to predict protection against HIV-1 in humans, they said."These results should be interpreted cautiously. The challenges in the development of an HIV vaccine are unprecedented, and the ability to induce HIV-specific immune responses does not necessarily indicate that a vaccine will protect humans from HIV infection, Barouch said.

Without understanding the biology of how normal sperm work

Infertility is a significant global health problem. Experts say the underlying problem is in the male. Representational Image. (Photo: Pixabay) LONDON: They can make test-tube babies, grow human eggs in a lab and reproduce mice from frozen testicle tissue, but when it comes to knowing how a man’s sperm can swim to, find and fertilize an egg, scientists are still floundering.

Enormous advances in treating infertility in recent decades have helped couples conceive longed-for offspring they previously would not have had. Yet this progress has also been a work-around for a major part of the problem: Sperm counts are falling drastically worldwide - and have been doing so for decades – and scientists say their honest answer to why is: "We don’t know”.

Infertility is a significant global health problem, with specialists estimating that as many as one in six couples worldwide are affected. In more than half of those cases, experts say, the underlying problem is in the male. Most of the focus of infertility research has been on women, however: on what can reduce their fertility and on how that can be averted, compensated for or corrected with treatment. While this approach has produced results - and babies - it has also left male infertility scientifically sidelined.

Treatments such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), where the sperm is placed into the egg rather than next to it, bypass the male problem rather than treating it, said Richard Sharpe, professor at the University of Edinburgh’s center for reproductive health."The treatments - some of them quite invasive - are to the female partner. So the female is having to bear the burden of the male’s sub-fertility ...(And at the same time), we have a very crude snapshot of what is going on in the male.”We know that sperm counts are dependent on high levels of testosterone, and there is some knowledge of links between sperm count and infertility, experts say. But beyond these basics, sperm’s intricacies remain largely undiscovered.

Without understanding the biology of how normal sperm work, we can’t possibly understand how they don’t work, or how to correct the problem,” Sarah Martins Da Silva, a reproductive medicine specialist at the University of Dundee told a London briefing this week.Sperm counts in men from America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand have dropped by more than 50 percent in less than 40 years, according to pooled research published last year, described by one of its authors as an "urgent wake-up call” for further investigation.STILL IN THE 1950sExperts say that to address the basic unanswered clinical and scientific questions in andrology - the study of male reproductive health - would require research ranging from large, ideally international, epidemiological studies to detailed lab work to decipher exactly how sperm cells function. Allan Pacey, a senior lecturer in andrology at Britain’s Sheffield University, said even at a basic level - the diagnosis of a possible male fertility problem - the science is lagging. The techniques of sperm analysis - examining ejaculate under a microscope, counting the sperm, assessing how well they swim, and seeing what they look like - were invented in the 1950s, he said.

And we are still doing the same thing now.” So while estimates suggest as many 1 in 20 young men now have sperm counts low enough to impair fertility, that remains educated assumption, rather than data from specific studies. "The quality of evidence we have got in this area falls way behind that of other branches of medicine,” Pacey said.Attracting funding for fundamental research into possible environmental impacts on sperm counts - chemical exposure, for example, or smoking, obesity, or sport and exercise - is tricky, partly because such studies need vast numbers of people, take many years and may not give clear answers."In the competitive world of grant funding, there is a view that male infertility is a problem solved,” Sharpe said.

We have ICSI. OK, this doesn’t fix the problem in the affected men, but it treats the ‘symptoms’, and that’s good enough."So from an urgency China automatic liquid soft packaging machines Suppliers and priority perspective, it’s easy to downgrade when compared to cancer, obesity or cardiovascular disease.”Comprehensive European or global data on funding going to male fertility research are not available, but in Britain, for example, only around 3.6 percent of the Medical Research Council Populations and Systems panel budget was provided for male infertility research from 2014 to 2017. Pacey told Reuters he has "a filing cabinet full of failed applications over the years” and Sharpe noted that once research falls behind, future studies have less to build on. "If you’re not producing sexy research that’s going to come up with a magic bullet, then people are not going to give you the money,” he said.

This machine can be transferred from one place

(Photo:ANI) Telangana: A 13-year-old boy from Hanumajipet village in Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district has invented a paddy filling machine which makes dropping of paddy in gunny bags easy for farmers.

Marripalli Abhishek is studying in class 8 in a local Zilla Parisheth High School. He is son of Laxmirajam who has migrated to Dubai six months back in search of employment as he was unable to increase cultivation in his small land to enhance income.Abhishek got the idea to develop a paddy filling machine after seeing his mother Rajavva struggle to fill gunny bags with paddy at Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP) paddy purchasing center. After he developed the idea to invent the paddy filling machine, Abhishek shared it with his class teacher Venkatesham who encouraged him and promised to give final shape to the concept. The machine can apparently do the work of three people. It requires two wheels, iron sheet, few iron pipes rods, weighing and stitching machines.

This machine can be transferred from one place to another easily and costs around Rs 5,000 only.TRS party president Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao has recognised the young talent and congratulated him with a cheque of Rs 1,16,000 and gave an assurance that he will bear all the educational expenditure of Abhishek. The boy told ANI that the paddy filling machine is useful for the farmers and labourers in the IKP centers."All the labourers and women are working hard to fill paddy into gunny bags. While four people remain engaged in filling up one gunny bag, this machine can do the job of three persons at a time. If the government supports me then I am interested in inventing more machines in future,” he said.

He then went to Southend to investigate further

Volunteers from UK&cup and box canned sealing machines Manufacturers039;s National Museum of Computing used eBay to track down the historic teleprinter for the Lorenz cipher. The teleprinter for the Lorenz cipher machine (Photo: National Museum of computing, UK) Volunteers from UK's National Museum of Computing used eBay to track down the historic teleprinter for the Lorenz cipher.

A World War II-era machine used to send personal messages between Hitler and his generals by encrypting plain German text into secret code has been found on eBay for 9.50 pounds.Volunteers from the UK's National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park used eBay to track down the historic teleprinter for the Lorenz cipher machine languishing in a shed in Essex. It was advertised as a telegram machine and was for sale for 9.50 pounds."My colleague was scanning eBay and he saw a photograph of what seemed to be the teleprinter," said John Wetter, a volunteer at the museum in Buckinghamshire.

He then went to Southend to investigate further where he found the keyboard being automatic liquid soft packaging machines Factory kept, in its original case, on the floor of a shed "with rubbish all over it"."We said 'Thank you very much, how much was it again ' She said '£9.50', so we said 'Here's a £10 note - keep the change!'" the BBC reported today, quoting Wetter. The teleprinter, which resembles a typewriter, would have been used to enter plain messages in German.

These were then encrypted by a linked cipher machine, using 12 individual wheels with multiple settings on each, to make up the code. The museum has just received one on loan from Norway's Armed Forces Museum, and has a video of how top secret transmissions might have sounded. When volunteers took the teleprinter back from Essex to the museum, they found it was stamped with the official wartime number from the German army that matches the one on the machine from Norway.Andy Clark, chairman of the trustees at The National Museum of Computing, said the Lorenz was stationed in secure locations as "it # was far bigger than the famous portable Enigma machine".

Everybody knows about Enigma, but the Lorenz machine was used for strategic communications," said Clark. "It is so much more complicated than the Enigma machine and, after the war, machines of the same style remained in use."Volunteers are hoping to recreate the whole process on June 3, from typing a message in German to cracking the code using wartime equipment."This gives us the chance to show the breaking of the Lorenz cipher code from start to finish," said Clark. "We can show every single point in the process."But one key part is still missing and volunteers are still searching for it."It looks like an electric motor in black casing with two shafts on each side, which drive the gears of the Lorenz machine," said Wetter.
